Cancellation Policy

This policy explains when and how a service order on Byengineers can be cancelled, and what happens to your payment when it is. By placing or accepting an order you agree to the terms below.
1. Cancelling before work is delivered
A client may request to cancel an order at any time before the engineer has delivered the completed work. To do so, open the order from your dashboard and choose “Make Cancel.” If the engineer has not yet started, cancellations are normally approved quickly and the payment is returned to you.
2. Cancelling after work has started
If the engineer has already begun working, we encourage both parties to communicate first through the order’s messaging thread to agree on a fair outcome — for example, a partial delivery or a revised scope. If agreement cannot be reached, the order may be escalated to the Byengineers team for review.
3. Engineer-initiated cancellation
An engineer may cancel an order if they are unable to complete it — for instance, if the requirements are outside the agreed scope or the client cannot provide information needed to proceed. In this case the full payment is returned to the client.
4. What happens to your payment
- Funds are held securely by Byengineers and are not released to the engineer until you confirm completion.
- When an order is cancelled before completion, the amount is returned to the client.
- If a refund is involved, it is handled under our Refund Policy.
5. Orders that cannot be cancelled
Once you have marked an order complete and submitted your review, the order is considered finished and the engineer has been paid — it can no longer be cancelled. If there is a problem with a completed order, please contact us so we can help.
6. The Company Guarantee
If you added the optional Company Guarantee, our team verifies the engineer’s deliverable before it reaches you. Should the deliverable fail that review, you may cancel and receive a refund of the order in line with this policy.
